Life has a way of bringing storms at the most unexpected times. Anxiety sneaks in and leaves us restless, overwhelmed, and even fearful. However, trusting God with anxiety is the key to finding real peace when life feels out of control. God never intended for us to carry the weight of worry on our own. Instead, He offers something far better: His peace.
Scripture for Today
Philippians 4:6–7 (KJV):
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Peace Beyond Understanding: Trusting God With Anxiety
Anxiety tells us to focus on what we cannot control. In contrast, God tells us to hand those things over to Him. Prayer is the bridge that takes our worries from our hands and places them into God’s hands.
In fact, Paul’s words remind us that peace is not the absence of problems, but the presence of God in the middle of them. His peace does not always remove the storm; nevertheless, it guards our hearts and minds like a shield.

A Story of Overwhelm and God’s Peace
I once spoke with a woman who had just lost her husband unexpectedly. Because of the sudden loss, the bills were piling up, her children were struggling in school, and the pressure felt unbearable. She told me, “Every morning I wake up with my heart racing, wondering how I’m going to make it through the day.”
Maybe you’ve felt that way—whether from grief, financial pressure, or the mental strain of life. Even though the circumstances differ, anxiety presses down until you feel like you cannot breathe.
Yet here’s what changed everything for her: she began each morning with a simple prayer. She admitted she didn’t have strength and she didn’t have answers, but she gave her worry to God. As a result, the panic attacks began to lessen. The grief was still real, the bills were still there, but something had shifted—she carried peace instead of fear.
That’s the kind of peace Paul describes. It is a peace that doesn’t make sense to the world but keeps you standing when everything else says you should fall apart. That’s the peace that comes from trusting God with anxiety.
How to Let Go of Anxiety Today
-
Pause and Pray: Even a short prayer—“Lord, I trust You with this”—can bring calm.
-
Give Thanks: Gratitude shifts the focus from what is missing to what God has already provided.
-
Release Control: You don’t have to fix everything. Instead, trust that God is working behind the scenes.
