Everyone has a story, and your story matters just as much as anybody else’s. But here’s what we forget:
The boss who snapped at you for no apparent reason. The clerk who seemed too preoccupied to even give you the time of day. You could tell by their body language and their reaction that they didn’t even want to be at work — and maybe they don’t even like their job.
Instead of reacting, we can stop and try to show them some understanding, because everybody has a story. They could have just gotten bad news, like a bad diagnosis. Maybe they have money they need to come up with by a certain date, and they don’t know how they’re going to do it. They’ve done everything in their power to get better, but they’re still struggling. And still, because you love Jesus, you can show them kindness, love, and compassion.
Maybe you want to go to your pastor and ask what you should do, but you’re afraid of being judged. Maybe you’ve gone to your pastor many times already because you’re having a hard time meeting people where they’re at.
Let’s have an honest conversation about this. I’ve attached a worksheet to this post. Prayerfully, you can fill it out when you’re struggling, do some deep reflection, and ask God to help you, my friend.
I would love to work with you. I do this on a donation basis, because I believe the love of God will change your life — and if I’ve helped one person, it’s worth it. If you’re not able to give, you still get the same commitment from me. But if you feel led to give so I can help others, that’s definitely a blessing. I want to put in the time and commitment needed to help one person at a time. That’s where my heart is.
